Carol J. Zastrow, age 68, of Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 28, 1947 in Kewaunee, daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Coppersmith) Kwasny.
Carol held several jobs throughout her life including in-home caregiver, Oneida Casino, ATTIC Correctional Services, all in the Green Bay area and Plumbers of Algoma. She loved to read and write and was a published and awarded poet. Carol will be remembered for her sense of humor and her creativity.
Carol is survived by her special friend of 24 years, Wally Smith; 5 sons: Mark(special friend, Wendy), Tom (special friend, Tammy), Chuck (special friend, Robin), Bob (special friend, Jamie) and Jeff (special friend, Colleen); 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters: Betty (the late Bernard) Gretz, Shirley (Daniel) Brusky, Mary (the late Frank) Fiala and Marilyn (John) Wiegert; 4 brothers: Clarence "Butch" (Carol) Kwasny, Larry "Red" (Shirley) Kwasny, Lloyd (Carol) Kwasny and David (Sandy) Kwasny; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Claudette; 2 brothers, Clifford (Ellie) and Lawrence (Pat) Kwasny; a niece, a nephew and a great-nephew.
Friends and relatives may call at ST. PHILIP THE APOSTLE, (312 Victoria St., Green Bay) on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 9 to 10:45 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 AM. Entombment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on the 9th floor and the oncology department of St. Vincent Hospital and to Unity Hospice for their exceptional care of Carol during her final days.
