Carol Mae Jalonen

Carol Mae Jalonen, age 87, of De Pere, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024. She was born July 23, 1937 in Ironwood, MI, daughter of the late Arnold and Hilda (Anderson) Schmaltz.

Carol attended cosmetology school in Redondo Beach, CA and worked as a hair stylist and manager for Ronnie's in Redondo Beach. Carol married Toivo "Chuck" Jalonen in 1953. They were married for 66 years before Chuck passed away, December 31, 2019.

Carol and Chuck enjoyed their time together at casinos in Las Vegas, where they snow-birded for many years. Carol's greatest joy was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. 

Carol is survived by her children, Alvin (Carol L.) Jalonen and Janet (Roger) Friedman; 4 grandchildren: Dean (Pam) Friedman, Dustin (Stacey) Friedman, Brent (Jennifer) Jalonen and Christy (John) Watkins and 9 great-grandchildren: Will, Anna, Sophia and Lucy Friedman, Ryker and Rayne Watkins, Whitney Jalonen, Holland and Clayton Friedman. 

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Chuck and a number of siblings.

Private memorial services will be held by Carol's family at a later date.
