Carol Rita Fontaine, 89, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 6, 2022.
She was born in Green Bay on May 4, 1933, to John and Libby (Laurent) VandenPlas.
She was raised in Humboldt and Green Bay. She graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1951. On August 25, 1951, she married the love of her life, Gerald Fontaine. They spent 63 wonderful years together until Jerry passed away in 2014. Together they raised 4 beautiful children on their farm in Humboldt.
In her younger years she worked on the farm, loved to garden, canned fruits and vegetables, and baked her own bread. She was a wonderful mother and fully invested herself in raising her children. In her later years she delighted in the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carol also enjoyed watching movies, doing crossword puzzles, and adult coloring books. She became quite the artist and loved using the color yellow. Carol loved the song Edelweiss, and she loved the music boxes that her daughters gave her through the years.
Carol is survived by her children; Linda Summers, Jerry, David (Holly) and Susan (Tom Arts) Fontaine, grandchildren; Devin (Amy) and Colin Summers, Tiana and Amber Dresang, Christopher and Jessica Fontaine, great-grandchildren; Talon, Serenity, Atreyu, Zeke and Finn, sister in law; Doris Lawson and numerous relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother John and her sister Elaine.
Visitation for Carol will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 5:00 pm-7:30 pm at Newcomer Green Bay Chapel, followed by a Celebration of Life at 7:30 pm.
