Cameron Sutton "Mac" McCain, age 86, of Green Bay, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 with his wife of 62 years at his side. He was born April 13, 1934 in New Holstein, WI, son of the late John and Dorothy (Dunlap) McCain and was a graduate of Oshkosh High School.
Mac continued his education at UW-LaCrosse where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. During his college years, Mac enlisted in the US Navy, where he proudly served his country, stationed in San Diego. While studying in LaCrosse, Cameron met Sandra Bergsbaken on a blind date. The couple married on Valentine's Day of 1959 and were blessed with 4 children.
Mac utilized his degree in education while working for the YMCA as the Director of Physical Education for over 34 years, retiring in 1994. Mac was elected President of the Village of Allouez in 1994. He was a charter member of the Monday Noon Optimist Club.
Cameron was an avid sports fan and loved to cheer on his Packers and Cubs. He also enjoyed many outdoor activities, including fishing and golfing.
Cameron is survived by his wife, Sandra; his children: Karla McCain, Molly (Bryan Baeten) McCain and Martin McCain; numerous grand-furbabies; sister-in-law, Maureen McCain; and close friend, Anna (De La Rosa) Jauregui.
He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas McCain and 2 siblings, John McCain and Carolyn McCain.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 2 to 4 PM. A funeral service will follow at 4 PM with full military honors. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mac's family would like to thank the team of doctors at Prevea and the staff at Sage Meadows for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established by Mac's family.
