GREEN BAY – Brenda L. (Sengstock) Wood , age 56, left peacefully for Heaven surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 after a courageous four year battle with cancer. She was born April 18, 1962 in New London to Gene and Dawn Sengstock. On April 9, 1983 she married the love of her life, Brian Wood. Brenda was a graduate of Green Bay West High School and NWTC. She enjoyed her time working as a bookkeeper for over thirty years for Libert's Auto Parts/Power Tool Service. Brenda also enjoyed her brief time working at the Quad Parishes of Green Bay before cancer forced her to give that up.
Brenda spent many proud and happy hours during her lifetime sitting in bleachers and cheering as her husband Brian played Classic League softball and then as her son Evan played football, basketball and baseball. She was a fixture at Ashwaubenon games and was incredibly appreciative of the support she received from everyone in the Ashwaubenon sports community throughout her fight. Brenda especially loved weekends at the lake with family and friends, getaways to Door County and trips down south for Evan's sports. She liked bargain shopping and going to rummage sales or just talking on the phone for hours with her mom or her best friend Tracy and others. Brenda was always incredibly selfless and was always doing special things for the people in her life. She touched the lives of so many, and she will be sadly missed.
Brenda is survived by her husband and High School Sweetheart Brian, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage. She also leaves behind her son Evan, her pride and joy, who she will now watch proudly from a different seat high above as he bravely goes forward without her. She will be incredibly missed by her mother Dawn, her brothers Brian (Marcia) Sengstock, Bruce Sengstock and Bradley (Pam) Sengstock, her mother-in-law Ruth Wood, brother-in-law Barry (Lisa) Wood and sisters-in-law Linda (Jim) Renner, Debby (Gary) Sutrick, Kathy (Jerry) Sutrick and Kelly (Mike) Lesage. Brenda loved her six nephews and eight nieces, who are saddened to see her go but will always remember how special she made them each feel. Brenda is also survived by many, many friends, especially her life-long best friend Tracy (Parish) Smits, who was by her side through it all for fifty years. Brenda's courageous battle is over, and she has been reunited in Heaven with her father Gene Sengstock, her father-in-law George Wood and her brother-in-law Randy Wood.
Family and friends are invited to say their goodbyes and celebrate Brenda's life at St. Jude Church, 1420 Division St., Green Bay on Saturday, October 20 beginning at 9:00 am. The mass of Christian burial will follow at noon with Rev. Dave Schmidt officiating.
