Betty J. Werchek, age 92, died peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at her home, with her family at her side. She was born June 13, 1929 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Hangstafer) DeGroot.
Betty was known for having many talents. She was a gifted musician who played several instruments, was a good dancer and loved to sing Karaoke. Betty enjoyed being outdoors fishing, gardening and going to her cabin in Pembine. Family was very important to Betty and visited them whenever she could. She was also a member of the Winiecki VFW Auxiliary Post #9677.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Sandra and Kristine (Kerry); her grandchildren: Jason (Lisa), Matt, Casey, Kyle, Kevin, Aaron (Martha), Codey (Stephanie) and Heather (Andrew); many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and her sisters: Shirley Meunier, Sandra Bilquist and Nancy Naniot. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; her son, Michael; her grandsons, Duane and Cory; her brothers, Jerry and Joey and sisters, Darla and Sally.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Monday, June 13, 2022 from 10 AM to 12 NOON. A funeral service will follow at 12 NOON. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
