Mom was reunited in heaven with Dad Friday morning at the age of 88 after fighting dementia. Mom was a resident of Reflections at Moraine Ridge for the past 9 months.
Born November 6, 1932 to Lawrence and Dorothy (VanDrisse) Van Laanen, she grew up in Red Banks, just north of east Green Bay. She attended Holy Cross School and St. Joseph's Academy.
Mom met Dad when she was 16 years old. Mom married Dad September 18, 1954 and she followed him out to Yuma, Arizona to finish Dad's tour in the Air Force. They came back to Green Bay and raised their family. Together they shared 64 years together until dad's passing on November 7, 2018.
Mom worked for the Telephone Company before starting her family. She helped her dad on his rural paper route, supervised playground lunch hour, and helped a family by caring for their special son, Craig. Her fun time was watching and reading to her grandkids and great grandkids, gardening in her flower gardens, watching birds, fishing at Clark Lake, playing with her numerous dogs, especially Ruben, who became mom's therapy dog. A secret talent of Mom's was writing poems.
