Bernice B. Wolfe

October 15, 1928 — May 5, 2019

Bernice B. Wolfe, of Green Bay, WI, passed away at the age of 90 on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Bernice was born on October 15, 1928, the 13th child of John and Pauline (Urbick) Kampa. She grew up on the family farm in a valley outside of Independence, WI. As a young child, Bernice and her siblings made the long trek across the hills and valley to attend Russell Country School. As she grew older, Bernice fell in love with the young Leonard Wolfe who lived on the ridge above the Kampa farm. Leonard and Bernice were married at Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Independence in July of 1948. Leonard took a job with the Green Bay and Western Railroad and the young couple settled in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. There they started a family, which included 3 children: Judy, Daniel and Jeff. In 1961 they moved to their current home in Green Bay, WI.

Bernice was a devoted housewife and mother. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family at her home. Easter weekends became an annual gathering of many extended family at the Wolfe residence on Oregon Street. This past summer her extended family gathered to celebrate Bernice and Leonard's 70th wedding anniversary. Bernice loved life and will always be remembered for her great sense of humor and happy demeanor. She loved to laugh and share stories and make others laugh with a sly prank or joke. More than anything, Bernice enjoyed attending many family celebrations with her many siblings, nieces and nephews. Bernice was an example of how to live a life of positivity, humility, generosity, compassion and caring.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Leonard; daughter, Judy Meier of Corona, CA; son, Daniel (Kathy) Wolfe of Owatonna, MN; son, Jeff (Terri) Wolfe of Little Suamico, WI, grandchildren: Michael, Cate and Ali Meier; Christopher and Jessica Wolfe; Jordan Wolfe; great-grandchild, Ryan Meier and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and 12 brothers and sisters.

A celebration of her life will be at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Friday, June 7, 2019 with visitation from 2 to 4 PM followed by a memorial service.
