Bernice "Dottie" Ward, 98, of Allouez passed away December 16, 2012. Dottie, the daughter of Edward and Amanda (Miller) Hibbard, was born on October 27, 1914 in the Town of Rockland, Brown County. She married Sylvester John "Sy" Ward on February 9, 1940 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1986.
She is survived by her four children: Virginia Ward of Oregon, Wisconsin; Carol (Kurt) Rothe of Tavares, Florida and Omro, Wisconsin; James (Sandy) Ward of Green Bay; and Daniel Ward of Minneapolis. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: David Ryan, Susan Ryan Dahlen, Sherri Ward Mayhew, Joseph Ward, Arthur "AJ" Ward, Alicia Ward Clark, Angela Ward and Nick Ward, as well as eleven great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Jean Ward.
Dottie was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Dottie was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church for 60 years and the Catholic Women's Club. She spent many hours volunteering within the community, especially at St. Vincent de Paul, Bellin Hospital, and St. John's Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sy Ward, her parents Edward and Amanda Hibbard, her sisters and their spouses: Gladys (Frank) Noonan and Eunice (Dexter) Hastings, brothers and their spouses: Stanley (Edna) Hibbard, Clayton (Mary Jane) Hibbard, and Kenneth (Evelyn) Hibbard, brothers-in-law and spouses: Don (Norma) Ward, Larry (Eleanor) Ward and John Ward.
Family and friends may call Friday, December 28, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 413 St. John St., Green Bay, from 10:00am until 11:00am. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the church on Friday at 11:00am with Rev. John Girotti officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
