Benjamin "Ben" Alsteen, age 65, of Green Bay, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at his home, with his loving family at his side. He was born February 12, 1952 in Green Bay, son of the late Clifford and Bernice (Frericks) Alsteen and was a graduate of Green Bay East High School.
Ben worked for several area grocers as a produce manager and was a true "people person." He married Shirley Thompson, October 5, 1985 and together they shared 31 loving years of marriage.
Ben was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing-a tradition that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He loved to putz in the garage while listening to the Brewers or Packers. First and foremost, Ben was a loving husband and a proud dad and grandpa.
Ben is survived by his wife, Shirley; 3 children: Steven (Kelly) Huntley, Alissa (Jason) Langenberg and Tamara (Andre Nohr) Alsteen; 9 grandchildren: Isaac, Aaron, Emma, Elin and Makala and Kaleb and Logan, Isaiah and Devin and 2 brothers, Michael (Joan) and Patrick (Karen) Alsteen. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Alsteen.
Private services will be held by Ben's family at a later date.
A special thank you to Tammy and Andre for their exceptional care of Ben that allowed for him to remain at his home through the end of his life.
