Barbara M. Zambon, age 68, Town of Rockland, passed away
peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, after a
courageous battle with Leiomyosarcoma.
She was born on July 23, 1949, in Manitowoc to Anton
& Ester Trinka.
Barb graduated from Preble High School in 1967. After
graduation, she attended cosmetology school, graduating in
1968.
She married David Zambon on February 7, 1970.
Barb retired from N.E.W. Curative after 24 years of
employment. After retirement, she fulfilled her dream of
opening an assisted living facility. Together with her
daughter, Toni, Patient Pines Assisted Living opened in
2011.
Helping people and giving back is part of what made Barb so special. Early on in her adult life she helped people recognize their outer beauty as a licensed beautition. Later Barb worked tirelessly caring for others as a CNA, before there was even certification available. Then the years spent at Curative gave her the desire to make a difference in the lives of others on a daily basis - hence, Patient Pines. Barb loved her work but she loved her free time as well. Painting Christmas ornaments every, single year, for every special person in her life that she could think of - THAT she loved! Mowing the lawn, it didn't matter whose lawn it was, she loved to mow for hours and hours. Seeing her family happy and smiling...THAT she loved! Barb was "child-like" in her faith, so much so that her last words were spoken to her dear friend, Kelli. With a smile and a squeeze of her hand, she told Kelli "I'm not done yet, the best is yet to come."
