Barbara Ann (Nytes) Van Gheem, 84, of Green Bay departed this life on July 8, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital.
Barb was born on July 31, 1937 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late William and Severa (Meyer) Nytes. The family moved to Green Bay in 1951 and she graduated in 1955 from Green Bay West. Her first job was Green's Dime Store and then Wisconsin Telephone as a long distance Operator. She also had a fun job of cleaning the Packer Stadium Offices when Infante was coach. She retired from the Green Bay Public Schools where she worked in food service for 22 years.
She is survived by three children: Tom (Chris) Van Gheem, Tim (Chris Thompson) Van Gheem and Tammy Van Gheem. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Lynn, Jessica, Allyson, Nate, Ricky, Tyler and Jade, along with four great grandchildren. Barb also leaves numerous extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by a grandson, TJ Vanark, a sister, Mary Ellen (Robert) Oldenburg, Brother-In-Laws Tony (Mary) Vissers, Richard Van Gheem, David Van Gheem, and father and mother -in - law, Ray and Charlotte Van Gheem.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13th from 4 PM - 7 PM at Newcomer - Green Bay Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A service will follow at 7 PM in the funeral home.
Barb's family would like to thank the staff of St. Vincent Hospital Emergency Room and the staff of the 4th Floor IMCU for the care and compassion given to Barb and her family.
