Barbara L. (Quasie) Sherfinski, 72, Green Bay, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, in the care of Aurora Medical Center, Green Bay.
She was born October 9, 1951, daughter of the late Sylvester and Stella Sherfinski. She was a proud member of the Newman High School, Wausau, Class of 70, and furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the UWSP, Stevens Point.
Barb had a variety of interesting jobs including graphic artist, sound and light technician, rate clerk at FRVR Railroad, additionally she worked for Holtger Brothers and recently retired from Aurora Bay Care which allowed her to spend more time volunteering at Swanstone Gardens where she also lived.
Barb was a member of the Wausaqua Water Ski Club in Wausau, WI. for many years serving as everything from Dock Coordinator to Show Director and finally President in 1979. Barb was also known far and wide for her love of all things "Outlander". She was an annual participant in "My Peak Challenge", founded by actor, philanthropist and Outlander star Sam Heughan, who she met in person on more than one occasion. "My Peak Challenge" was a cause very close to Barb's heart. Her travels through the years took her to Scotland, Iceland, the Grand Canyon, Canada and many of the fifty states.
Survivors include one brother, Michael Sherfinski (Kathy Klement), Schofield, brother in-law, Lou Petricca, Mount Prospect, Il., seven nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Sherfinski and Kathy (Lou) Petricca. Barb is also survived and will be further missed by her best friends of over 45 years, Mary Fahrner and David Calhoon, her roommate.
A celebration of life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI. Friends may call from 3:00 to 5:00pm. A prayer service will follow.
Family and friends wish to express their sincere appreciation to all who visited Barb and to the staff at both Bellin Hospital and Rehab Facility and to Aurora Medical Center who cared for her with love and compassion.
In lieu of flowers contributions will be used to offset funeral expenses.
