Barbara "Pars" Pharris, age 84, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023. She was born in Green Bay in 1939. Barb spent most of her life here, leaving for school and returning. As Barb would say, she graduated without honors from high school, college and graduate school. She enjoyed teaching at Denmark High School and was involved with Literacy Green Bay after retiring.
Barb wrote, "Home was where I learned right from wrong and the city parks, where I played and worked, taught me how to accept differences, survival skills and was how I spent most of my life trying to mesh the two. My five minutes of fame came when I was ten and won the City Bean Bag Championship."
In her youth, Pars worked for Green Bay Parks and Rec where she learned to give, take and allow for differences. Never one to suffer fools graciously, she was able to bide her time before pulling a prank. She hid her serious side. Pars was grateful for many good friends who supported her and spent time with her during her waning days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four cousins.
Friends may gather on Friday September 1, 2023 from 10:00 am until 10:30 am at St. Willebrord Parish, 209 S. Adams Street with a Mass following at 10:30 am. Barb's favorite cookie recipes will be enjoyed after the Mass at the church. In lieu of flower please direct memorials to Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity or St. Willebrord Parish.
We would like to extend a thank you to Traci, her hospice nurse, and the caregivers at Eden Vista for all their care, comfort, and support that was given to Barb.
Hopefully I left my small world a little better than I found it.
