Barbara M. Derfus, 78, Allouez, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Wednesday, May 8, 2013. She was born July 10, 1934, in Appleton, to the late Raymond "Pinky" and Vicki (Novak) Karweick.
Unlike many women of her generation, Barb was able to attend college. She completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1957. On September 7, 1957, she married Richard "Dick" Derfus in Appleton. They enjoyed 46 years together before Dick passed away on August 16, 2004.
Barb was an excellent cook; she kept her family and friends well supplied with cookies, pies, candy, and jams. She was also an avid tennis player and bridge player. Barb volunteered with various community organizations. She enjoyed entertaining. She loved her family, friends, and church family.
Survivors include her 3 children, Gary (Marianne) and Greg (Sue) Derfus, and Nancy (Bob) Wudeck; grandchildren, Rick, Sam, Jack, Katherine "Kuin", Tori, and Lisa Derfus, and Elyse, Ben, and Robby Wudeck; and special nephew, John Huff.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Dick and sister, Mary "Pat" (John) Huff.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 Libal St., Green Bay, from 10:00am until 11:00am. The funeral service will be celebrated at the church on Tuesday at 11:00am, with Pastor Andrew Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
