August Konsela age 86 entered into eternal life on Wednesday Dec 31, 2014 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center surrounded by family and loved ones.
August was born on July 20, 1928 in the town of Montana Wisconsin to the late Robert and Olga (O'Bieglo) Konsela. August was drafted into the army in July 1952 at the age of 24. He was stationed in Breckin Ridge Kentucky for basic training and then 7 weeks of mechanics training. August was sent to Korea (during the Korean War) where he was stationed with the 58th Engineer Floating Bridge Company 9 miles from the border of North Korea. August was Honorably discharged in 1954.
August married Myrna (Knutson) on Nov 25th, 1954. They just recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
August and Myrna farmed until 1957 when they moved to Ladysmith Wisconsin where August worked in a saw mill for 6 years. In 1966 they moved to Tischmills where they ran a small farm and August also worked at Hamilton Industries in Two Rivers. August retired from Hamilton's in 1990. In retirement August did a little farming, gardening, wood working and metal working. August built a few baby cribs for grand kids and even built his own tractor.
Survivors include his wife Myrna Konsela, nine children: Julie Konsela, Dean (Marge) Konsela, Tod (Sandra) Konsela, Brian (Luanne) Konsela, Terry (Lynn) Konsela, Ivan (Denise) Konsela, Becky Metz, Carol (Tom) Metz, Jean (Charles) Metz, 33 Grand Children and 35 Great Grand Children.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday January 8, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 110 West Menasha Avenue, Whitelaw, WI at 9:00am until the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00am. Immediately following Mass, military honors will be held in St. Michael Cemetery.
