Audrey A. Martinson

October 30, 1936 — March 23, 2025

Green Bay, WI

Our beloved mother, Audrey A. Martinson, passed away from natural causes on March 23, 2025. Audrey was born October 30, 1936, in Burlington, WI to Elmer and Bernice Ganswindt. She had two brothers: Perry, who died at birth, and Ralph. Audrey obtained her degree in Economics along with a minor degree in English. In 1959, she married John E. Martinson, whom she met when she was an undergraduate and he was a law student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Together they established a life in De Pere, WI, raising five girls and two boys.

Audrey’s parents instilled in her the value of family. As adults, she and her brother, Ralph, made sure there were regular gatherings of their families throughout the years. What a gift they gave us in doing this. Audrey was devoted to her family. She never yelled, never judged, never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She was a constant, supportive and loving presence in our lives. Audrey was an avid Packer fan and loved to read. She and John traveled throughout the United States and Canada and, in their later years, enjoyed time at their cabin in Michigan.

Audrey lived her life serving others: her family, her church and her community. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. She held several leadership positions in her church, including President of the church synod women’s group. Audrey volunteered for many years at Center Project, Inc. Her work there took many forms including education, support groups, fundraisers, being a “buddy”, and serving as chair of the Development Committee. She saw this work as a ministry and valued being able to support those dealing with a difficult, and sometimes terminal disease.

She provided important support for Martinson Law Offices by managing the bookwork and payroll. She also handled the financials for their multiple commercial and residential rental properties.

Audrey is survived by her seven children: Diane Martinson, Barb (Jerry) Neumair, Deb (Craig) Gordon, Jeff (Tracey) Martinson, Ginny (Chuck) Kerwin, Brian Martinson and Mary Martinson, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren (soon to be 12) and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her brothers, Ralph and Perry, and her sister-in-law, Carla.

Thank you to the Woodside Manor staff, Unity Hospice, her doctors and her caregivers for their loving care!

On May 4, 2025, the visitation is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2911 Libal Street, Allouez, with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Ascension Lutheran Church.

God blessed Audrey with a long and full life. Throughout her life, she kept her eyes on the Lord, and we can take comfort knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:39)
