Arthur Gulbrandsen

May 31, 1924 — January 10, 2013

Arthur, M. Gulbrandsen, 88, Oconto Falls, formally of Pewaukee, WI, found eternal rest on Thursday, January 10, 2013.

He was beloved husband to Lillian (Girly Heinz) for 62 years.
Art has passed on to join his wonderful son, Robert (Bob) Arthur Gulbrandsen in heaven.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; his daughter, Karen (David) Krause and grandsons James, Thomas and Daniel of Hartland, WI; daughter-in-law, Barbara (O'Neill) Gulbrandsen of New London, WI and grandsons, Eric (Tara) Gulbrandsen of Omro, WI, Jeffery (Becky) Gulbrandsen and their children, and Ryan (Cortney) Gulbrandsen of New London, WI; great grandchildren, Tristin, Kayla and Mason brother, Robert (Rose) Gulbrandsen of Leesburg, FL; brother-in-law, Art (Ruth) Heinz of Green Bay.

Art is also preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Olga (Cedarholm) Gulbrandsen; sister, Joyce (Ron) Phannes; and in-laws, Adolf & Lena (Schultz) Heinz.

He was born on May 31, 1924 in Chicago, IL. At the age of 19 Art was inducted into the US Army serving in WWII, stationed in Louisiana as a MP guarding German prisoners of war and then a tank driver in the Philippines. Art was proud of his service to our country. He was a life-long member of the American Legion and was past commander of the American Legion Post 71, in Pewaukee, from 1974-1975.

On July 14, 1951, Art married Lill, at St. John's Riverside Lutheran Church in Gillett, WI.

If anyone knew paint, it was Art. He worked as a salesman for the Lowe Brothers, Pittsburg, Devoe, Esser, Mautz, Hoffer and Coronado paints, which moved his family to a few different towns. In 1960 he lived 4 blocks away from Lambeau field, a Packer lover's dream. Lombardi was the king and Art was a season ticket holder. The next move was to Pewaukee Lake where his hobbies were golf, fishing, having a beer and telling tall stories about the minnow and the musky. Art loved to play Santa for the neighborhood families and could not resist getting dressed up as a woman for Halloween. At 6'2 and 260 lbs in a dress, he was quite a sight to behold.

Friends may call from 9:00am until 11:00am on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at St. John's Riverside Lutheran Church, 5686 State Highway 32 S, Gillett, WI. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, at the church with Rev. Richard R. Buhrke officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at St. John's Riverside cemetery.

Thank you to Sharpe Care Nursing Home in Oconto Falls, for being Art's home and extended family for the past 6 years.
