Arthur "Artie" Grenke, age 81, of Oconto Falls, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 in Green Bay, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 14, 1936 in Laona, WI, son of the late Fred "Fritz" and Erna (Ammerman) Grenke. He worked on the family farm in Oconto Falls for many years.
Artie married Patricia "Pat" Moen, October 22, 1960 in Milwaukee, WI and together they shared 57 loving years of marriage and raised 2 daughters. He was employed by Oconto Electric Co-op, where he worked as a lineman for over 30 years. After retirement, Artie returned to his love of working on the farm, driving tractor and doing field work.
Arthur was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, 4-Wheel rides and spending time at Road America in Elkhart Lake. Artie is fondly remembered for his unique sense of humor and his kind and generous nature. He was always willing to lend anyone a helping hand. His greatest love was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Artie lived life to its fullest.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Pat; his daughters, Kim (Bob) Below and Julie (Rez) Ashikino; 4 grandchildren: Bobbie (Josh) Stroessner, Joseph (Kari) Below, Machaela and Olivia Ashikino; 3 great-grandchildren: Ava, Arthur "Ari" and Wesley and a brother, Herb (Sandy) Grenke. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Arlin Grenke.
Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church (501 S. Main St., Oconto Falls), Friday, December 15, 2017 from 10 AM to 12 NOON. A memorial service will follow at 12 NOON followed by a lunch at the church. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions has been entrusted with arrangements.
