Arnie Beimborn, 94, embarked on his final trip on Sept. 8, 2016 when he died peacefully in his sleep at home. He was born Aug. 31, 1922 in Shirley, Town of Glenmore, WI to the late Henry and Rosalie (Nier) Beimborn. He married the love of his life, Arleen "Pete" Allen on Oct. 4, 1944. He attended St. Norbert College and became a member of the SNC Golden Knights Society in 1993. He served in the US Army during WW II. A very active member of the Green Bay Elks Club B.P.O.E. #259, Arnie served as Exalted Ruler multiple times. He was state Elk of the year (1998) and District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, Northeast WI. His favorite project was the Easter Seals Wisconsin Elks Respite Center, Wisconsin Dells, for which he strongly promoted the necessity and value. It meant so much to him to know that families could be secure in the knowledge that their loved ones with disabilities had varied needs met while enjoying a camping experience.
Arnie's favorite job was in the hospitality industry where he and "Pete" co-managed a motel. He was a self-taught fine stained glass artist, an avid Packers fan and a proud supporter of the Bullfrogs baseball team. Arnie excelled at providing broad educational and cultural experiences for his family while hauling his Airstream behind. He loved to travel far and wide with Pinky; enjoyed big band and classical music, puffing his pipe or a good Cuban cigar; canine companions, telling stories; working a daily crossword puzzle while munching a doughnut with OJ and coffee; watching CNN; and, sipping a good vodka tonic, "no fruit, please"! We all learned from Arnie's living examples - he was loving, kind, honest, loyal, respectful, curious, responsible and open-minded, with snippets of sarcasm thrown in!
He is survived by devoted daughter and best friend, Pinky Betts; son, John (Lorrie); granddaughter, Heidi (Harry) Benjamin; special nephew, Jim (Sami) Beimborn; caring sister-in-law, May (Allen) Kasten-Kulkoski. Also survived by son Paul and family, sister-in-law June (Allen) Ryan along with many nieces and nephews. Arnie was preceded in death by wife, "Pete"; sister, Rosalie; brothers, Clarence "Pat" (Frances) and Harvey (Frances).
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12th from 9-10:45 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A memorial service will follow at 11 AM in the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Allouez Cemetery.
