Arbutus "Tootsie" Giguere Niles, 94, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully January 11, 2019 at Crossroads West Nursing Home.
Born in Green Valley, WI on December 4, 1924 to Arthur and Augusta Bohm. At age 6 Tootsie picked up a guitar that her father got her and started singing western music, yodeling everyday from radio she heard at home. At age 14 played guitar yodeling and got her first prize in a talent show. She then got to sing and play with Cousins Fuzzy's Band WTAQ radio Green Bay on Sunday afternoon radio. She also made records then. Her career took off going to Milwaukee during the war working for Schlitz Brewery and singing at night clubs weekends where she met her husband Myron Giguere in the night club he owned. She then married him and left Milwaukee for Green Bay in 1962 where they bought a mobile home park A & V Terrace Gardens. They built the motor home court from a swamp, from 3 homes to 81 now. Myron died in 1981. So Tootsie kept it going alone with help until she sold it in 1996.
Her son Verlyn was a stock car racer for 22 years and she never missed a race. After that she loved to watch NASCAR racing. Arbutus married her soul mate Bob Niles in 1984, he helped her with the park and cared for her always. He left her in December 2000 she was lost then but kept going. Her life was never dull, always busy, and happy. She is smiling down now.
She is survived by three children: Robin Melotte, Vickie (Michael) Walton, and Verlyn Giguere. She also has three grandchildren: Tina Bott, Buddy Giguere, and Missi Korb, along with great grandchildren: Damian, Dion, Dante, Dacia, Pacer, and Haven and three great great grandchildren.
