Anthony V. "Tony" Schug, age 81, of Green Bay, formerly of Abrams, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 with his loving friend at his side. He was born March 18, 1936 in Athens, WI, son of the late John and Marie (Risch) Schug.
Tony enlisted in the US Army and honorably served his country. He owned a tire shop, earning him the name "Tony the Tire Man" until his retirement. Tony enjoyed tinkering outside and activities with his friends at the DAV. He was a proud member of the Airborne 101 Screaming Eagles. Tony was a man of great faith and a member of St. Benedict Parish, Suamico, where he is fondly remembered as a friendly usher.
Anthony is survived by his 9 siblings: David (Sally), Norbert "Norbie" (Evelyn), Joe (Carol), Albert "Albie" (Betty), Ray (Betty) and Charlie Schug and Gertrude "Gertie" (Bud) Guralski, Judith "Judy" (Jim) Halik and Margaret "Margie" (Jerry) Heil and special friend and caregiver, Lori LaRocca. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Sister Anna and Angie.
Visitation will be held at ST. BENEDICT CATHOLIC PARISH (3370 Deerfield Ave. W, Suamico, WI), Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM.
There will also be a funeral mass in Tony's hometown of Athens celebrating his life. Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church (417 Caroline St, Athens, WI ), Monday, September 25, 2017 from 9 to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Military honors and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Athens.
