Annette Horvath

De Pere

Annette Horvath, age 87, of De Pere, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 2, 2024. She was born July 9, 1937 in Stevens Point, WI, daughter of the late Alex B. and Wanda J. (Glodowski) Peplinski and was a graduate of Amherst High School.

She continued her education at Viterbo University, LaCrosse, WI, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology in 1960. During her final year at Viterbo, Annette had started the process of becoming a nun, under the name of Sister Gerard. In 1963, Annette married Paul Horvath and the couple was blessed with 2 children. They were married for 18 years and then divorced. Annette then relocated to Roswell, GA, where she lived for 26 years, in a friendship with Jarrell Tillman. She was a store manager at the Hospitality House in Buckhead for much of this time. In 2005 she moved to the Green Bay area to be closer to her sisters, who were members of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross Convent. In her retirement, Annette devoted many years to being a receptionist for the convent.

Annette enjoyed trips to area casinos as well as to Mississippi and Las Vegas to gamble. She was an active member of Holy Cross Parish Community, where she volunteered counting the holiday and Sunday collections.

Annette is survived by her children, Paula Horvath and Stephen (Imelda) Horvath; 5 grandchildren: Nyajah Bass, Joe Horvath, Eleanor Horvath, Nina Horvath and Chandoppe' Horvath and 4 great-grandchildren: Mariah, Cohen, Ami and Elysian. She is further survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Sally Peplinski and Cheryl Peplinski, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings: Sister Jeanette (Clarice) Peplinski, Dolores (Albert) Pierce, Alex Peplinski, Sister Clairann (Beatrice) Peplinski, Jean (Bob) Brzezinski and Robert Peplinski.

Visitation will be held at Holy Cross Parish (3009 Bay Settlement Rd., Green Bay, WI), Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 9:30 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM with Abbot Gary Neville, celebrant. Entombment will be in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
