Alvin J. Paul

Alvin J. "Al" Paul, Bellevue, passed away on March 10, 2021. He was born on September 8, 1929 to William J. and Margaret (Kreilkamp) Paul. He attended Casco Grade and Casco High School graduating in 1947.

Al graduated from Badger Green Bay Business College with a degree in accounting. He also was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking and the University of Oklahoma National Commercial Lending School.

Al met the love of his life, Darlene Ann Marks, while working at The West Side State Bank and was united in marriage at St. Patrick's Church, Green Bay on Sept. 4, 1954 and for 66 years considered her his best friend and soul mate. Al is survived by his wife, Darlene and their three children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild and one on the way: Perry (Linda), Amanda (fiancé, Ryan) and Katarina; Pamela (special friend, Cheri); Kathy Solway (Mike), David (Melissa)(Emerson & baby coming in June), Sarah, and Beth (special friend, Jared). He is also survived by his sister, LaVerne Lardinois, brother-in-law, Everett (Carolyn) Marks and nieces and nephews.

He served his country in 1948 and 1949 in the US Navy. Following college, Al began his banking career in January, 1953 at The West Side State Bank and continued with the organization through its transition to West Bank and Trust, the formation of its holding company United Bank Shares, the opening of United and East Bank, its merger with Valley Bank Corporation to become Valley Bank of Green Bay. At the time of his retirement from active management in 1990 from Valley Bank, he was Senior Vice President.

Al was an avid Packer fan and worked in the Packer Box Office selling game tickets in Green Bay and Milwaukee for many years. He was also in attendance at the 1967 Ice Bowl Game with his classmate Russ Fameree.

Over the years Al was dedicated to community service and served on a variety of boards which included the Green Bay Junior Chamber of Commerce, Scholarships, Inc., JV Manufacturing, Inc., VerHalen Inc. and Capital Bankshares. He was also a past Vice President of Badger Bankers, President of the Green Bay West Side Kiwanis and Wednesday Noon Optimist Club and Treasurer of Annunciation and Resurrection Catholic Parishes. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. His hobbies were golfing, fishing and boating.

The one accomplishment in which Al was most proud was his family. This included his ever-loving wife, Darlene and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved all sports and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their hockey, soccer and basketball games.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret; his father and mother-in-law, Otto and Mamie Marks; his brothers, Sylvan(Helen) and William Paul, Jr. and sisters: Lucille(Elmer) Sisel, Lillian(Frank) Hucek and Lorraine Lukes and brother-in-law, Eugene Marks.

Friends & family may call at Resurrection Catholic Parish (333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez), Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 10-11AM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Entombment will be in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
