Alexander C. King

July 17, 1932 — August 27, 2017

Alexander C. "Alex" "Al" King, age 85, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 27, 2017.

He was born on July 17, 1932, in Chicago, IL and grew up in both Edgar and Athens. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for four years. During his time in the Air Force he met his wife of 61 years, Marion Berg from Edgar, WI. Together they lived in Wausau, Rhinelander, and Green Bay through promotions Alex received while employed with WPS.

Alex loved solving mechanical problems, from simple gadgets to major automobile repairs. He was very knowledgeable and creative in many skills and trades. He liked to go to rummage sales and the flea market. He spent many hours in his garage, tinkering with his many "finds." Alex was the first to help anyone if they needed something fixed. He had a great sense of humor and had a unique soft chuckle. He loved the Sunday comics and telling stories and jokes.

Survivors include his wife, Marion; six children, daughters Diane (King) Baeten, Marcia (Tim) Lichtenwald, Debra (King) Abate, and sons Gary (Jennifer Knight) King, Allen (Kelly) King and David (Loretta) King; twelve grandchildren, Ryan (Judy) and Jason (Manola) Baeten, Cara (Danny) Skarsten, Justin and Jacob (Maggie) Miller and Dusty Abate, Brittney (Ryan) Bachorz and Heidi King, Jenna (Jared) Kiernicki and Mitchell (Moriah) King, and Kristine (Jonathan) Rose and Steffanie King; nine great-grandchildren; four siblings, Marilyn (Ray) Hawley, Roger (Margaret) King, Lu Ann (Gerard) Van Hulle, and Judy (Ron) Bullock.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alexander D. & Marie King; and infant brother, William.
