Albert "Bernie" LaFreniere, age 81, of Green Bay, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016, surrounded by his family, after a short illness. He was born in Michigan to the late Albert and Marcella (Gaboury) LaFreniere, August 4, 1935.
In 1955 Bernie married Margaret Zoppetti at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Gwinn, MI and together they shared 61 loving years of marriage and raised 2 sons. Bernie was Assistant Airport Manager from 1953 to 1968 when he transferred to the Road Commission in Gwinn as a truck driver and then was promoted to district foreman in 1975. He was a very dedicated worker, retiring from the Marquette County Road Commission after 44 years of service. His wife said he would go to work sick and never missed work except for a vacation.
After retirement, Bernie and Margaret moved to Green Bay, WI to be near to their family. His favorite past time was traveling all over the U.S., Canada and Mexico in all of his R.V.'s. Bernie was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa and he will be dearly missed so much by his family.
Bernie is survived by his wife, Margaret; 2 sons, Jim (Lynn) LaFreniere, Green Bay and Donald LaFreniere, Menasha. He is further survived by his granddaughters, Kayla and Lisa and his grandson, Christopher. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Bernie also leaves behind 3 step-grandsons: Mason, Brady and Logan Drohman, Green Bay; 2 brothers, Francis (Betty), FL and Brian (Nancy), Gwinn, MI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was loved by all.
