Albert T. Brick

Albert T. Brick, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2023. He was born on August 4, 1932 in rural Askeaton, near Greenleaf, son of the late Carl and Frances (Fontaine) Brick.

After attending Catholic Central High School in Green Bay, Al transferred to Brillion High School where he graduated in 1950. On October 27, 1956, he was united in marriage to Germaine Ann Geiger at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brillion. They shared close to 50 years of marriage before Germaine's passing in 2006.

Al had a wide-ranging professional life that spanned over 50 years. As a youth he worked on the family farm and was encouraged by his father to apprentice as a cobbler. His career launched with a sales position for Fuller Brush. In 1960, Al and Germaine moved to Brillion to open the Brillion Shoe Center where Al was able to apply his cobbler training. Al and Germaine successfully ran the Shoe Center for over 35 years. During this time, Al also worked for National Energy Systems where he was frequently the leading sales person. After selling the shoe store and "retiring," Al worked at Dorsch Ford and other car dealerships in the Green Bay area where he used his self-proclaimed "Irish blarney" to sell cars.

While living in Brillion, Al was an active member of American Legion Bloedorn-Becker-Jensen Post 126 and was a founding member of the Brillion Conservation Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and camping on Shawano Lake.
Prior to his marriage, Al served in the army and was drafted and deployed to Korea as a Private First Class in the 31st Infantry Division 3rd ROK KMAG (Republic of Korea - Korean Military Advisory Group.) He left for service on Dec. 4. 1952 and was discharged on Nov. 8th 1954. While assigned to his division, he worked as a Communications Officer managing intelligence information for day-to-day military assignments and various classified missions. He described traveling to Japan and Korea as an eye-opening experience for a naive farm boy from WI. For his courageous service, in June of 2000, Al was awarded the Korean War Service Medal from the President of the Republic of Korea.

Al is survived by his 4 children, Daniel (Catherine) of Columbus, WI, Susan (Kirk) Tatge of Charlotte, NC, Sandie Brick-Margelofsky (Troy) of Dodgeville, WI and Kelly (Chris Tubbs) of Sherman Oaks, CA. Al had one granddaughter, Rachel Fontaine Tatge of Manhattan, NY. He is also survived by siblings, Carol Diny, Jennie Landry and Richard Brick all of Trump Lake, WI.

Al was preceded in death by his wife, Germaine Ann Geiger, his parents, Carl and Frances (Fontaine) Brick, a sister, Frances Golden and an infant brother, Carl Cyril.

A visitation for Al will take place from 12 to 2pm on Friday, April 14th at the Newcomer Funeral Home located at 340 South Monroe Avenue, Green Bay, WI. A funeral service will follow at 2pm with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA.) The family wishes to thank the staff at the Larson House for their care and friendship over the years.
