Alan Eastman Brickett, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16th at Woodside Senior Communities.
Alan was born on January 13, 1932 in Allentown, PA to Edward M. and Ruth A. Brickett, and spent the majority of his childhood "down-East" in Marblehead, MA. where he acquired his love of sailing.
Alan's Dad was a concrete design Engineer and Alan attended Cornell University in New York for 1 year before transferring to Tufts College in Medford, MA, where he graduated in 1954 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was hired on at Northwest Engineering on Walnut Street in Green Bay, and designed many cranes and heavy equipment during his time there.
Shortly after moving to Green Bay, Alan met Virginia Jevorutsky, his wife of 64 years, at a square Dance. They were married in June of '56 and Alan was drafted into the US Army that same year. They relocated to Frankford Arsenal, PA. where Alan served in the Engineering division and large weaponry.
After the Army, the couple returned to Green Bay, where they lived on the West side and had 2 sons. Alan remained at Northwest until 1981 when they relocated to Montgomery, Alabama where the finished out his career at Kershaw Mfg., a builder of railroad maintenance equipment.
They stayed in Alabama for their retirement since Alan hated shoveling snow. They returned to this area to be closer to family in 2017.
Alan and his family were always active in the church, and they attended Pilgrim Congregational Church during their time here. He was a Mason and was active in the YMCA as an instructor during their early years here. His greatest passion in life was Trains, and he enjoyed the model train hobby his entire life. He served at the National Railroad Museum on Broadway and was heavily involved with the museum's acquisition of The General Eisenhower War Train in 1964. He also enjoyed photography, woodworking, travel, and dancing.
He is survived by his loving wife Virginia, sons Leonard and David, his younger brother Charles, (S.C.), as well as many nieces and nephews.
