Agnes Schleis

February 3, 1923 — October 21, 2022

Hi Mom, today is Friday, October 21st, it is a sunny fall day with splashes of color painted across the countryside. Tonight there is a new star in the evening sky. Your journey is complete. "AND THATS HOW THAT GOES".

99 years is a long time to be alive. Agnes Schleis, accomplished that but today October 21st., she has been reunited with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and all of the loved ones who passed before her.

How do you look back and recap ninety nine years of a persons life?
Agnes was born on February 3, 1923 and was raised on a farm in the town of Eaton. She successfully completed 8 grades of school at St. Cyril and Methodius. She was one of 12 children of Hedwig "Hattie" (Walczyk) and Michael Bosacki. All have proceeded her in death.

She met Alvin Schleis prior to the start of World War II and in her early 20s followed him to Milwaukee where she worked for Badger Metal. She was "our Rosie the riveter". The job was dirty and required working long hours on a lathe making parts for air planes. After two years of hard work, she managed to save $400 and returned to her home in northeastern Wisconsin, where she and Al married on June 16, 1945. The two of them settled in Eaton and in 1958 moved to Denmark.

If you would ask anyone, what do you remember most about Agnes? The first thing to come to mind would be the love she had for her husband and family. Together with Al they raised 5 children: James, Linda, Shirley, Sylvia and Christine.

Besides being a good mom and homemaker she held several jobs outside the home, which included cooking at Eddie Whips, Green Bay Pickle Factory, Larsen Canning, and the Denmark Press.

Being raised on a farm she continued her love of gardening and maintained a garden until the age of 98. Her daily devotions included reading from her little Red Prayer book which was worn out and replaced several times and a daily rosary. At every family gathering she was always ready to play any card game, but loved playing Skipbo or Sheepshead. She enjoyed watching the Cubs play baseball and every Christmas her gifts from her children and grandchildren would always include several puzzles. We often marveled at the fact that at the age of 99 she continued to put her puzzles together.

She was the last survivor of 12 brothers and sisters and was also proceeded in death by her husband Alvin, (1995) her daughter Sylvia Graczyk (2014) and her grandson Rick Wanish (1998)

She is survived by her son, James (Theresa Peters)Schleis, Lake Suzy FL., daughter, Linda (Dennis) Wanish, Crivitz, daughter, Shirley (James) Schauer, Green Bay, daughter, Christine (Mark) Leiterman, Denmark, son-in-law, Daniel Graczyk, Denmark, 8 grandchildren: Dawn (Andrew) Dorf, Paula (Chris) Otradovec, Stephen (Bruna) Schleis, Michael (special Friend, Niki Huth) Graczyk, Michelle (Eric) Guns, Ashley (John) Haen, Benjamin Schauer, and Brent (Brooke) Leiterman; 11 great-grandchildren: Madelyn Dorf, Garrett Dorf, Katie (Shiva) Bujunoori, Cassandra Otradovec, Natalie Otradovec, Rylie Guns, Logan Guns, Garrisson Guns, Ayla Haen, Nolan Haen, and Adalyn Leiterman; brother-in-law, Raymond Schlies, Green Bay, and several nieces and nephews.
