Adrian J. Glanner

Adrian J. "Eddie" Glanner, 83, of Green Bay, WI, passed away peacefully in the arms of his family on September 24, 2021, at his home.

He was born in Minto, ND, on May 16, 1938, son of the late John and Blanche (Klava) Glanner.

Adrian is survived by his wife, Donna, and their three children: Dawn Glanner, Alana Glanner and Sean (Tanya) Glanner; two grandchildren: Phillip Stone and Gavin Glanner. He is also survived by his two sisters: Mary Ronkowski and Helen Troyer, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

Adrian was preceded in death by eight siblings: Eugene Glanner, Leona Nelson, Ernest Glanner, Margaret Sibell, John Glanner, Clarence Glanner, Rosalie Glanner and Dennis Glanner. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kristie Stone, and one granddaughter, Ariel Stone.

Adrian graduated from Fordville High School in 1956 and inducted into the Armed Forces of the United States on October 15, 1957. During his service in the Army, he rose to the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and became a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, where he was awarded the Master Parachutist Badge as well as the National Defense Service Medal. On September 30, 1963, he was honorably discharged.

With his military career behind him, he began working for Standard Oil Company in Milwaukee, WI. A training station position opened, bringing him to the Green Bay area. If you didn't see him managing stations daily, you could find him tending bar evenings at the Piccadilly.

In the mid 60's, he and a friend began painting homes which transitioned into his first business and started the Modern Painting era.

Adrian married the love of his life, Donna Pakanich, on October 22, 1969. They spent the next 51+ years together raising a family, running a business, as well as renovating and renting multiple single-family dwellings.

He reached out on his own in the early 80's, creating: Quality Sandblasting, Inc., Circle Aviation, Inc. and Circle Coatings. This was the beginning of a multifaceted legacy encompassing Bridges in a tri-state area, Industrial, Institutional, Commercial, in addition to running a large in-house operation servicing everything from airports, Lambeau Field, as well as everyday people; coining the phrase "We Sandblast Anything". Adrian became the largest subcontractor in the State of Wisconsin, dubbing him "The Godfather" of the sandblasting and painting industry.

In his spare time, he worked with our local trade school initiating an apprenticeship program for painting, sandblasting and commercial paper hanging. His love of flying prompted him to work with Austin Straubel Airport constructing two units containing multiple privately owned hangars, known as Condo Corporation.

Time off was spent with family and close friends enjoying Packers games, Puerto Rico, Canada, Montana and traveling the world.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Friday, October 1, 2021 from 3 to 6 PM. A prayer service will follow at 6 PM with full military honors.
