Adrian B. Cherney

June 16, 1927 — September 10, 2013

Life is a journey and I, Adrian Cherney, started my new one on September 10, 2013. My 86 years of life on earth, started on June 16, 1927, on a farm, in the town of New Denmark. This is where I learned to love the land. As a young adult I moved to Milwaukee, and fell in love with Joyce Brandt, who I married on January 27, 1951.

My love of the land became different as I worked for Drumml Construction, as an operating engineer. Taking ground and creating highways became my passion. In 1965 I moved back to Denmark and worked for Suster Construction, and various other companies. As a member of Operating Engineers #139 I gained many lifelong friends.

I loved my country, serving in the Navy during WWII, and later became a member of the VFW Post #6705 and American Legion Post #0363 in Denmark.

My faith in God is what helped me "swim upstream" through life. I was a member the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Platta Council #4735, an honorary life member of the Fourth Degree Marquette Assembly #1197, and active member of the honor guard, which gave me an opportunity to serve the community.

After retiring my hobbies became, making Vermox, organic gardening, and biking; again a way to enjoy the land, and Mother Nature.

I leave behind, but will guide from above, my children: Melody (Bill) Jerabek, Denmark and Wencel (Lori) Cherney, Green Bay; special friend, Marilyn Cooper; 8 Grandchildren: Jason (Tamera) Jerabek, Sara Zacek, Molly (Aaron) Arneson, Jesse, Ryan, Adrian, and Shelby Cherney, and Bill Dewick; 7 great-grandchildren; my siblings, Jerome (Phyllis) Cherney, Appleton; Clifford (Mary) Cherney, Green Bay; Bernadine Williamsen, DePere; and Harold (Petie) Cherney, Green Bay.

Those waiting to greet me were my wife, Joyce; 4 of our babies; and my parents Wencil and Anna Cherney.

Family and friends may call at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Rd., Green Bay, on Monday, September 16, 2013, from 1:00pm until 4:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Monday at 5:00pm with Rev. Daniel Viertel officiating.

I and my family would like to express our extreme gratitude to Unity Hospice, and Fr. Viertel for all the care and consideration given to us.

In May, I had a "Till We Meet Again" party. I would like to thank all those who I got to hug and thank, for being in my life; it was truly a "Thank You" party. The life we are given is to be celebrated and appreciated, I so appreciated all those who's paths crossed mine on my journey through life.
