Robert Joseph Lotter

Robert Joseph Lotter, 84, of Green Bay and Seymour, Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer.
Bob, as he was known to all, was born on July 30, 1938 to Joseph and Arline (Luedke) Lotter in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Bob graduated from Seymour High School in 1956 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for two years before returning to help his dad at the family business in Seymour.
Bob eventually entered the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss,Texas in early 1962. He became Battalion Finance Clerk and attended the U.S. Army Southeastern Signal School in Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was deployed to Ramstein Air Base, part of the Kaiserslautern Military Community -- the largest American community outside of the United States. He received many letters of commendation for his service and was Honorably Discharged October 1966.
During his service abroad, he directed his father, Joseph, to present Jean Marie Drephal with an engagement ring. Complete with directions, Joseph proposed to Jean on behalf of his son.
On April 11, 1964, Bob married his love, Jean, at St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour. Bob and Jean went on to have two children, Kathleen Van Pay and Dean (Wendy) Lotter. In addition to his wife and two children, he adored his two grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan, who lovingly called him Bompa.
Bob's main career was in sales as a buyer for the H.C. Prange, Co. as well as owner of Mr. Robert's Gifts. Upon retirement he continued to work part-time at Martin Hardware where many stopped to get his expert advice and chat.
Bob enjoyed serving Grace Lutheran Church especially on the Building and Grounds Committee where he helped plan and organize a large renovation. Bob's hobbies were sailing, especially with his good friend, Mike Buege; and photography as he was known to snap many photos! Bob enjoyed puzzles, games and "dad" jokes. He was also interested in meteorology and would have been excited by the electromagnetic storm causing the strong Aurora Borealis on the night of his passing, 3/23/23.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Jean, his children, his grandchildren, as well as his two sisters, Ginny (Jim) Page and Jean (Allen) Burns and numerous nieces and nephews across the United States. While the miles may
have been wide, the sibling love and humor was strong.
A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 10 am to 12 pm at Grace Lutheran Church (321 S. Madison St. Green Bay, WI) with a memorial service to follow at 12 pm. Military Honors will take place after.
